Short stories - year 8

Short stories

Read the three short stories that are attached. Copy the document, rename it and put it in your English folder in Drive. Read the stories more than once.
As you can see, none of them has a title so you will give them one each. Also, write an explanation as to why you have chosen to give the different stories their particular title.

Pick out one of these four stories and analyze it more thoroughly. What is it about? Does it have a message and if so, what is it? Pick out a line or a part of the story that you find significant for it and describe why it is an important line or part.

Now to the more extensive part of this project; I want you to write your own short story and publish it online. As you have probably noticed from the stories that you read, in general, short stories have a message. I seriously want yours to have one too.
So follow the criteria below:

  • The story must have a message
  • There should be no more than two characters in the story.
  • Try to describe the characters in the story, what they feel, think, do and so on. Make them “alive”.
  • The story should contain roughly 1 000 words.
  • Use a dictionary of some kind.
  • Use a spelling program (like SpellRight or why not the app Grammarly that will also check your texts on social media).

  • Process your work by handing it for comments to at least one other person before publishing.
  • Create an account on https://www.wattpad.com and publish your story there. When it is published, search for my username (mrsericsson) on Wattpad and add me. That way I can get hold of your story and comment on it.

Some stories for inspiration:
or you can browse Wattpad for thousands of stories :)
And if the brain is blank, use a plot generator to kickstart it :)
